Ink Dock
The river waits for permission
In A.S. 201, Ink Dock sells waiting, files missing cargo as confession, and keeps the Chain's master slate beneath its Hall. The ferries move when the ink permits.
Codex Ref. II.3.05-003
Provost-Captain Merrow Venn
The river writes the name. She prepares the docket.
Merrow Venn controls arrests, confiscations and drowning cages on the Rope-Ferry Chain. Her patrols read the River Ledger first; the river supplies the names and the provosts prepare the docket.
Codex Ref. III.1.05-002
Rope-Master Lysa Kett
Only she may condemn the rope. Everyone else pays.
Lysa "Splicehand" Kett controls the Rope-Ferry Chain's cables and maintenance crews. Only she may condemn a mainline; the Guild's shortages are paid for in grain that never crosses.
Codex Ref. III.2.01-1701
The River Ledger
When the rope writes, the river collects
On the Rope-Ferry Chain, wet mainlines blacken into names, weights, and sentences before the river makes the entries true.
